Strict instructions have been issued to Schools concerning the administration of medication to children.
Medication is given by a School Officer who has undertaken first aid training provided signed instructions from the medical practitioner are given (Form B), and a request is made by parents in writing (Form A). The appropriate medical authority forms must be signed by a medical practitioner and a parent.
An Individual Health Care Plan will also be put in place if required.
Non-prescribed oral medication, e.g. Panadol, can be administered under strict guidelines and only if both Form A and Form B have been completed.
In some circumstances the school may need to contact the students medical practitioner to seek futher advice.
